Yesterday saw RadioShack and Cricket teaming up to unveil a partnership called the RadioShack No-Contract Wireless Service which is available in the US now. Smartphones as well as feature phones have been confirmed to be eligible for these plans, and as of now, two handsets – both Huawei devices – are being offered, with two more phones slated to arrive later this month.
Plans for feature phones start at $25 a month, granting 300 minutes, unlimited messaging and web access, and go until $35 a month, offering 1,000 minutes and unlimited messaging and web access. On the other hand, smartphone plans begin at $50 per month, and proffer unlimited data (1GB at full-speed), unlimited minutes and domestic text messaging as well as unlimited music with Muve Music. The other plan costs $60, and tenders almost the same features, but with full-speed Internet till 2.5GB.

One of the two devices is the Huawei Mercury Ice which is being offered exclusively through RadioShack for the next 30 days. This Android 2.3 smartphone costs $149.99, and delivers features such a 1.4 GHz processor, a 4-inch FWVGA screen display and an 8MP camera. The next handset is a feature phone named Huawei Pillar which comes equipped with a QWERTY keyboard, and is priced at $39.99.
The RadioShack No-Contract Wireless Service powered by Cricket is live now in the US, and can be availed of by purchasing the above mentioned devices.
