Qualcomm has revealed two new mid-range SoCs that come in the form of the Snapdragon 617 and the Snapdragon 430 which have both been equipped with octa core processors. Apart that this, the company has also given us new details about its upcoming flagship Snapdragon 820 chipset and its new Quick Charge 3.0 technology which allows for fast charging of devices.
Both the new mid-range chipsets from Qualcomm are aimed towards 4G LTE smartphones, and hence feature advanced LTE modems. The Snapdragon 617 has been equipped with the company’s X8 modem which allows LTE Cat 7 speeds of up to 300Mbps down and 100Mbps up using carrier aggregation. The slightly lower-end Snapdragon 430 model goes for an X6 modem which is able to provide speeds of up to 150Mbps down and 75Mbps up, using carrier aggregation of course.
The Snapdragon 617 features the same camera configuration as that of the 620 and 618 models. It has been fitted with eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores that have been clocked at up to 1.5GHz. Handling the graphics is an Adreno 405 GPU.
Coming to the Snapdragon 430, this chipset has been blessed by Qualcomm with a new Adreno 505 GPU supporting OpenCL 2.0 and OpenGL ES 3.1 standards. It houses eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores that can be clocked at up to 1.2GHz, while it even allows dual-camera configurations and a sensor of up to 21MP.
Coming to the important details about the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor, it has been revealed to kick in the X12 LTE modem for speeds of up to 600Mbps down and 150Mbps up using carrier aggregation. This SoC bears several other connectivity advancements as well, moreover.

Lastly, there’s Quick Charge 3.0 which has made its way onto all the three above mentioned SoCs. This new version of the fast charging technology is able to constantly monitor voltages in order to enable devices to determine how much to grab at any point. It will allow gadgets to go from 0 to 80 percent of charge in about 35 minutes.
Devices featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 and the Snapdragon 820 models are expected to arrive next year, but those bearing the Snapdragon 617 chipset might pop up later this year.
