Slated to be released on June 19, 2009, the Prince of Persia movie has now been pushed back to release in 2010. Reportedly, Disney has postponed the official release with an intention of taking out more time for adding the tremendous special effects post production.
The Prince of Persia movie casts Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, and Alfred Molina. Prince of Persia is expected to be mega-movie like Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, cites Variety, which is why Disney is not taking chances.
The plot of the movie is set in the sixth century Persia, where a young prince must pair up with Tamina, a beautiful princess, to prevent a villainous Vizier from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that has the power to reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.
The filming process of the movie has already begun in Morocco.
The Prince of Persia movie is based on the popular video game with the same name from Ubisoft.
The delay of Prince of Persia has put the movie out of the competition with the Transformers 2 that is due to release on June 2009.
