To deliver an enriched blogging experience, the San Francisco-based sharing platform, Posterous, was recently acquired by Twitter. All workings of the former company are said to be unaffected and will continue to run without any sort of disruption.

According to a post made on the official Twitter blog, engineers, product managers and various other members from Posterous are expected to join forces with the company’s teams on several key projects. The main objective here is to further develop and enhance the microblogging experience on the social network website. Just as we earlier pointed out, the Spaces service from the newly acquired blogging platform is said to be operational until further notice.

“The opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting, and we couldn’t be happier about bringing our team’s expertise to a product that reaches hundreds of millions of users around the globe. Plus, the people at Twitter are genuinely nice folks who share our vision for making sharing simpler,” stated Sachin Agarwa, founder and CEO of Posterous, on the company’s official blog.

As of now, posts can still be sent through the iPhone and Android apps or via email. Also, domains purchased from Posterous will now be managed by web hosting company, eNom. In the coming weeks, the company plans on unveiling a set of instructions to help users back up their content and even export it to other services like WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger and so on.

In spite of its acquisition by Twitter, all services on Posterous will continue to run as normal. If and when the company decides to carry out any changes, a notice is expected to be issued well in advance.
