Sony has confirmed that it’ll stick to its two flagships a year strategy and so, the Xperia Z3 (if that’s what it’ll be called) should be just a few months away from launch. What could possibly be images of the said handset have surfaced and it shows the device besides a smaller device which is rumored to be the Z3 Compact.
Xperia Blog that got its hands on the images from Digi-wo suggests that they are merely of the Xperia Z3‘s and Z3 Compact’s front panels and not the entire smartphones. The first picture embedded below is of the upcoming flagship phone. While there’s nothing concrete about the device except for a previous leak which suggested that it would have a metal frame, we expect it to have the same 5.2-inch design.
What’s clearly evident from the image is that Sony cares less about the bezel size on its handsets. Also, while LG and Samsung have moved on to WQHD screens on their new phones, the Japanese conglomerate will most likely stick to a 1080p display. Improvements will come in the form of better hardware like the inclusion of a Snapdragon 805 chipset with Adreno 430 graphics.
This would be quite a decent speed bump over the Xperia Z2 which has been on the market for just a couple of months now. The image below shows the upcoming flagship alongside the alleged Z3 Compact which will most likely be taller than its 4.3-inch predecessor. We expect it to be around 4.5 to 4.7 inches wide. Whether it will follow the same strategy as before and offer a no-compromise experience through high-end components is yet to be disclosed.
IFA 2014 which takes place in September is where Sony is expected to take the wraps off the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact smartphones.
