The price of the Polaroid 7-inch kids tablet has been announced along with its availability details and the device is also geared up for the CES 2013 to be held in Las Vegas from January 8. Currently, it can be purchased via the company-owned online store and will soon be put up for sale through Kohl’s.
The 7-inch kids tablet is adorned with a capacitive multi-touch display. This screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, boasts of rendering decent visuals in 800 x 480p resolution. While it comes with 8GB of internal storage to hoard digital content, the device also has an expansion slot for increasing the memory using a microSD card. Like a number of other slates meant for children, this slate runs the Android platform as well, Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0 to be precise.
Its internal working is carried out under the supervision of a Cortex A8 processor which operates at a velocity of 1GHz and works in conjunction with 512MB of DDR3 RAM for enabling users to launch more than one application at the same time. The device is graced by a single rear-facing 2MP camera, which should record videos. Although the OEM has not mentioned the exact power life, its embedded 3500mAh lithium-ion polymer rechargeable battery can be expected to keep the slate going for a day.
And what’s more, the Polaroid tablet has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for wireless internet access along with a safe web browser. There are parental controls to ensure that kids can only see content that has been approved by their parents. Bumpers have been placed on the sides and the rear panel of the device to make it capable of withstanding drops. Its display lock function locks the screen and buttons so children can watch videos and movies without interruptions.
Further, the slab provides access to the App Shop which stocks up on free and paid applications for kids. The Free Play app is pre-loaded for suggesting free games from this application store. Besides these, the device is installed with as many as 35 premium applications such as Kids Cam, Kids Vids, Draw, Music Studio and Nook for Android amongst others.
The Polaroid 7-inch kids tablet is up for sale for a price of $149.99.
