Philips isn’t well-known for its mobile devices, but that isn’t going to stop the company from bringing its premium I908 smartphone to the country. The handset was recently spotted on the India-specific website which suggests that an official launch might just be around the corner.
The Philips I908 went official a few months back and it’s quite an attractive looking smartphone. It was initially teased as a slim handset and many speculated it to be amongst the slimmest on the market. But that’s not the case since it measures 8.8mm which is a bit on the bulky side based on current standards.
The phone offers a good deal of features including a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS LCD panel which is said to be 36.5% sharper than the retina display. You’ll get a skinned version of Android 4.4 KitKat preloaded, albeit there’s no mention of whether the phone will be updated to 5.0 Lollipop. Processing power is delivered via a 1.7GHz octa core chip which is without a doubt from MediaTek.
Accompanying the SOC on the inside is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of flash storage. Of course, a microSD card slot is also present and there’s dual SIM support as well, with HSPA+ network compatibility. Philips has even thrown in a large 3000mAh battery which is estimated to deliver up to 25 hours of talk time or around 1080 hours of standby on a single charge.
