When we first saw the Pentax K-01 last month, it introduced itself as a mirrorless camera which should suit the needs of keen photographers who demand a blend of design and performance. In accordance to what we picked up back then, it has made itself commercially available now.
Devised with a mirrorless system, the K-01 boasts of a 16MP APS-C sized CMOs image sensor. It is capable of recording 1080p full HD videos at a rate of 30fps with h.264 compression. This can also be changed to 60fps at 720p resolution. The body may be paired with a whole horde of lenses from the company’s K-mount range.
“It’s a great honor to have worked with world-renowned designer Marc Newson to bring the Pentax K-01 to market,” shared John Carlson, Sr. Manager of Sales and Marketing, Pentax. “The new K-01 is not only technically superb, it is a design object.”
Designed by Marc Newson, the snapper can be grabbed in enticing color options like black, yellow, or white. It is also equipped with a 3-inch LCD and features the sensor-shift shake and dust reduction system from Pentax. For those who don’t mind, or like flaunting, a designer label on their devices, the chassis has been stamped with the stylist’s autograph logo on the bottom.
The Pentax K-01 price details have already been sketched out by the company. The camera body can now be picked for $749.95. After pairing it with the lens kit including the DA 40mm XS, the price tag will read $899.95. The DA 40mm f2.8 XS unifocal interchangeable standard lens can be purchased separately for $249.95.
