Undoubtedly attracting some envious looks from smartphone enthusiasts in other parts of the world, the Pantech Vega R3 has been unveiled for Korea. The device works on the quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and features the ever so popular phablet form factor.
A 5.3-inch, 1280 x 720, IPS Pro LCD touchscreen framed by Zero Bezel Tech perches itself on the front. In spite of its generous proportions, Pantech promises that the chassis ‘provides optimum grip for a typical Korean hand.’ Potential buyers can already pick it up through the three major network operators in this particular region. The phone runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich and it uses 2GB of RAM.
“Pantech has had the philosophy that smartphones must be operable with one hand. Vega R3 is the realization of that philosophy. We are confident that Vega R3 provides more user friendly features than the iPhonn5,” asserted Jun-woo Lee, Vice President of Pantech Business. “With Vega R3 featuring the best specifications and functions to represent the Vega brand, we will solidify our position as the no. 2 manufacturer in the Korean market in the 4th quarter.”
The Snapdragon CPU we’ve already talked about is complemented by the Adreno 320 GPU and the 2600mAh battery that juices up all the tasks can be powered to full capacity within roughly 100 minutes. For photography needs, a 13MP camera sits on the rear panel. Finally, there’s an interesting feature called Emotional Bubble Message which apparently detects the emotion contained in an SMS and sends the appropriate emoticon in a bubble.
The Pantech Vega R3 price hasn’t been given a clear mention. We’re guessing it’ll vary depending on the carriers and service packages being offered.
