Panasonic Unveils 1080p Full HD Viera Series Plasma Televisions

Panasonic's New VIERA 2008 full HD Plasma Series

The year has barely set in and various tech-companies are already in the race to announce their flagship products for 2008. Joining the bandwagon is Panasonic who has unveiled its 2008 range of Plasma Full HD televisions. Dubbed the “VIERA 2008 full HD Plasma series” the line-up consists of a new screen size of 46-inches, along with the 42-inch class, 50-inch class and 58-inch class size Plasma TVs.

The key features of the all-new VIERA 2008 series is increased contrast ratio, advanced anti-reflective screen, a Game Mode, VIERA Link, enhanced luminous efficiency, lead free panels and 100,000 hours to half brightness.

Dennis Eppel, Vice President, Panasonic Display Products Company said, “Not only have our Plasma displays received critical acclaim from consumer and trade publications, but Panasonic has maintained the market lead for the majority of the last three years. Panasonic has never rested on its laurels and the 2008 VIERA line continues that philosophy. And, all of our Plasmas continue to include an SD Memory Card slot, a unique feature that we have found to be a differentiator.”

Throwing light on the first and foremost range, the VIERA PZ80 Plasma TV series includes three screen sizes – TH-50PZ80 (50-inch), TH-46PZ80 (46-inch) and the TH-42PZ80 (42-inch), incorporating 1080p resolution; native contrast ratio 20,000:1; Game Mode; SD Memory Card slot and three HDMI connections. The Game Mode helps in cutting down the time lag while displaying game images on the screen.

The other line-up, called VIERA PZ85 Plasma TV series includes the 42-inch class TH-42PZ85, the 46-inch class TH-46PZ85 and the 50-inch class TH-50PZ85. All the displays incorporate a contrast ratio of 30,000:1, Game Mode, SD memory Card slot along with a PC input. VIERA PZ85’s speakers are hidden in the front side of the Plasma TV.

VIERA PZ800 features a higher contrast ratio of 30,000:1; Game Mode; a PC Input, four HDMI connections and new one sheet of glass design concept. The series includes four screen sizes, the 42-inch class TH-42PZ800, the 46-inch class TH-46PZ800, the 50-inch class TH-50PZ800 and the 58-inch class TH-58PZ800. The PZ800 series meets the THX Certified Display specifications, suggesting the highest standards of performance and quality.

And the last in the list is the VIERA PX80 array of Plasma TVs that features the 42-inch class TH-42PX80 and 50-inch class TH-50PX80 are equipped with contrast resolution of 15,000:1; Game Mode and an SD Memory Card Slot.

Slated to ship in spring of 2008 across the US markets, no pricing info of the latest Panasonic VIERA HDTV range has been disclosed yet.
