The latest addition to Panasonic’s expanding Lumix family is a new digital camera powered by an AA battery called DMC-LS. Sporting a compact form factor, the innovative camera comes with a neat 8.1 mega pixel camera and a 4 x optical zoom. The easy-to-use camera should cater to the needs of digital photographers of all levels.
The stylish camera is equipped with a bright F2.8 quality LUMIX DC VARIO lens and also has an Intelligent Auto Mode (iA). Though basic, the iA in the DMC-LS85 will comprise of functions like Mega O.I.S, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Face Detection. The camera is also bundled with a Quick AF (auto focus) signature to Panasonic devices. The function will allow users to automatically focus on the subject without any need for holding down the shutter button, consequently minimizing the focus time.
Additionally users can now enter the iA mode by simply touching a button on the top of the camera without actually going through the entire menu. Additional features of the camera are the WVGA with 848 x 480 resolution formats at 30 fps, a standard VGA with 640 x 480 resolutions, a 2.5-inch large LCD that has a 230,000-dot high resolution and Intelligent LCD function that detects lighting conditions and controls the brightness level of the LCD.
The novel DMC-LS85 also has an internal memory of nearly 50MB, Venus Engine IV processor that offers low energy consumption and a battery life of about 270 photos with two AA batteries. The camera will be dressed in silver, black or pink colors.
Panasonic’s latest Lumix DMC-LS85 digital camera will be available from April 2009 onwards for a price of about $119.95.
