Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 price starts at $2,899, release date set for March 2013

Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1

The price for the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 has been given a mention, although with a release date set for sometime in March 2013, market arrival is a good deal away. The toughed up tablet puffs up for all of its 10 inches and comes with Windows 8 Pro as the platform. It follows the 10-inch FZ-A1 model which itself runs on Android and is now certified with LTE on Verizon’s network.

The Toughpad FZ-G1 features a sunlight readable 10.1-inch WUXGA touch screen and active digitizer with a brightness of 800 nits for easy viewing even outdoors. It offers 10-point multi-touch and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The slab has been pre-loaded with 64-bit Windows 8 Pro and the company allows buyers the option to downgrade to Windows 7.

In terms of processing power, the tablet gets a 1.9GHz 3rd generation Intel Core i5 vPro chip which can be made to clock in a maximum speed of 2.9GHz using Intel’s Turbo Boost technology. RAM can be specified from 4GB to 8GB, while 128GB up to 256GB of SSD internal storage options are also available.

Battery specifics haven’t been detailed but the company does bestow an 8-hour life on the tablet. A variety of connectivity options also exist to improve convenience. These include Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, as well as the option to have 3G or 4G LTE capability embedded on board. The slab weighs a little under two and a half pounds, measuring 10.6 x 7.4 x 0.75 inches in dimensions.

Back

This line of tablets from the company has been designed specifically for mobility and ruggedness and is targeted at mobile workers in fields including the military, construction and supply chain logistics. This one meets MIL-STD-810G and IP65 standards (as do the others in the series) for drops and a range of operating temperatures. It can withstand conditions ranging from 14-degrees to 122-degrees Fahrenheit and drops from a height of about 4 feet.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 will be released sometime in March this year, an exact date eluding us. This device will go on sale starting at a steep $2,899 and will be made available for purchase at all the company’s authorized retailers.
