Besides the Lumix DMC-LX7 and FZ200, the manufacturer has also introduced the Panasonic Lumix G5 single lens mirrorless camera that is powered by the Venus Engine. This compact snapper employs a 16.05MP Live MOS sensor and claims to deliver true-to-life pictures as well as crisp videos.
The lens and contrast auto focus of the camera work towards capturing high resolution images and the Venus Engine is responsible for ensuring advanced signal processing. Its 3DNR and NR are said to detect edges in photos and apply noise reduction accordingly, while HDR has been integrated to produce a composite image from several pictures clicked consecutively. The device’s high-speed burst shooting at the rate of six frames per second and touch auto focus team up to facilitate capturing fast moving objects.
Photographers can manually adjust settings such as zoom, exposure, aperture and more with the assistance of the conveniently placed function lever and rear dial. Complete with a Live View Finder (LVF), it also comes with a high resolution LCD screen that can rotate up to 180 degrees and tilt to about 270 degrees. The shooter operates silently, thanks to its electronic shutter and the Level Gauge detects if the picture is in landscape or portrait mode to be displayed accordingly, regardless of the lens used.
With as many as 14 filter options and the new GUI menu tab, switching between modes should not be a problem. Additionally, iA or iA Plus modes recommend effects for different scenes and let users activate ISO control, face recognition, auto focus tracking and other such functions. Needless to say, the Panasonic Lumix G5 camera in question can even record HD videos of 1920 x 1080 60p resolution in AVCHD or MP4 formats. Its Dolby Digital Stereo Creator records clear audio and the Wind Cut function comes in handy for cutting down on wind noise.
The Panasonic Lumix G5 price and release date have not been mentioned as yet, but will be announced 30 days before the camera hits store shelves.
