Panasonic Eluga Power US launch may not happen

Panasonic Eluga Power US Launch

Possibly breaking the hearts of many dual core smartphone hunters, the Panasonic Eluga Power US launch isn’t in the works. At least that’s what the company seems to be sitting on at present as far as the news of its stateside launch is concerned.

While fluttering around Twitter, we stumbled across the PanasonicDirect account and spotted a response to a follower’s query about the handset’s release in the US. Accordingly, the company insists that there are no plans along these lines for the present. Europe seems to be the only region officially on the release schedule. Or at least, that’s what Panasonic wants us to believe.

For those wondering about all the fuss around the elusive Eluga, the smartphone has a 5-inch 1280 x 720p touchscreen and works on the 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core CPU. The handset has a sleek 9.6mm chassis and it’s not designed to play tough on the battery life. The manufacturer claims that users should be able to juice up the embedded 1800mAh battery by up to 50% in half an hour.

Panasonic Eluga Power

Flaunting international IP57 ratification for the ability to withstand water and dust, this ‘elegant user-oriented gateway’ sports an 8MP auto-focus camera with 1080p video capturing support. It runs on ICS and offers 8GB hoarding space that can be expanded by up to 32GB owing to the integrated microSD card slot. The phone was supposed to have dropped anchor in the UK already. But it’s been no-go so far.

Well, we’re not too sure about whether the company is merely playing with our feelings by pretending that there won’t be a Panasonic Eluga Power US launch. Our guess will be as good as anyone else’s.
