In a bid to compete with Apple, many Chinese manufacturers end up making their devices looking similar to iPhones, and the new Oppo R9 and R9 Plus are no exceptions. These lookalikes have just been made official in China, with their prices set at CNY 2799 (around $430) and CNY 3299 (around $510), respectively.
The Oppo R9 is the lower-end model among the two, but it’s by no means an unimpressive device. It carries on its front a 5.5-inch 1080 full HD AMOLED panel that’s accompanied by bezels as small as 1.66mm. The phone strangely houses a 16MP f/2.8 camera on its front and a 13MP f/2.2 snapper on its rear surface.
It’s powered by an octa core Mediatek Helio P10 processor that’s assisted in its operations by 4GB of RAM. As for the storage, it is taken care of by a 64GB ROM and a microSD card slot. Oppo has also blessed the device with a 2850mAh battery.
Coming to the Oppo R9 Plus, it comes fitted with a 6-inch 1080p full HD AMOLED panel offering bezels just 1.76mm wide. This handset runs on an octa core Snapdragon 652 processor and 4GB of RAM. It exists in the form of both 64GB and 128GB models, both of which feature microSD card slots.
A quick glance at the main specs of the Oppo R9 Plus:
– Display: 6-inch AMOLED, 1080p full HD
– OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop
– Processor: Octa core Snapdragon 652
– Memory: 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB (expandable)
– Cameras: 16MP rear, 16MP front
– Battery: 4120mAh
Both the front and back camera modules get 16MP units on the R9 Plus, thankfully. Furthermore, this phone has been revealed to be carrying a massive 4120mAh battery inside it. The R9 as well as its Plus model run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, and support 4G networks.
The new Oppo R9 and R9 Plus have only been announced in China for now, and it remains to be seen when their release plans for other regions are outed.
