The Oppo F5 has made its way to India about a week after making its debut in the Philippines. The brand’s also announced a mysterious new F5 Youth edition of the handset, but that’ll be launched in December.
The F5 is up for pre-orders on Flipkart till November 8 in a 4GB/32GB option at Rs 19990 in gold and black. Sales will kick off on November 9 via the site and offline retailers. There’s a 6GB/64GB model priced at Rs 24990 in red and black as well, but it’ll only become available in December.
Oppo’s always put a heavy emphasis on selfies with its smartphones, and the F5 is no different. What has changed is the technology driving the 20MP front camera. The company turned to artificial intelligence to improve its beautification skills, touting that the phone uses more than 200 positional spots to accentuate symmetry between facial features.

The Oppo device further has a beauty-iris tool to make sure a person’s eyes shine brighter. It’s even gotten hold of facial recognition technology. There’s a fingerprint reader at the back for those who prefer using their hands. The scanner had to be moved there because the front has been taken over by a trendy 6-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
