There’s a new rumor floating about which claims that OnePlus isn’t planning a T variant of the OnePlus 5. It seems the company is looking to launch the OnePlus 6 early instead.
To recall, OnePlus had unveiled the OnePlus 3T last year to upgrade to the faster Snapdragon 821 processor. However, it seems Qualcomm isn’t releasing a Snapdragon 836 this year. This quashes the biggest reason for a new version of the OnePlus 5 to exist.
OnePlus would be hard-pressed to come out with a OnePlus 5T that boasts of compelling upgrades in light of this. As for the OnePlus 6, it may come out at some point in early 2018. The brand usually announces its flagship phones in June or July, but the latest bit of speculation is alleging a timeline earlier than that.

Word on the street is that the OnePlus 6 could adopt a much larger 6-inch QHD panel. Most of the company’s phones have stuck to the same screen size of 5.5-inch, so this would be a huge change. It’s also possible that the brand will hop on the bezel-less smartphone trend, translating to more display real estate without having to make the device too big.
This was actually rumored for the OnePlus 5 at one point, so we’ll have to wait for more concrete evidence of this. If the firm does follow through with the design change, it’ll likely have to reposition the fingerprint reader to the back, unless it somehow perfects an under-display solution.
