OnePlus says pre-order system schedule for October rollout, explains the process

OnePlus’ invite-only approach was met with heavy criticism and the company plans to move beyond that by making its One smartphone available for pre-order. The new system is scheduled to be initialized in October and it’ll allow you to reserve as many units you desire.

According to a blog post by the company, the biggest issue with the invite model is that potential buyers needed to invest a lot of time and energy into getting an invite. And this is one of the key reasons why OnePlus is initiating a pre-order system.

OnePlus One

So here’s how it’ll work – The OnePlus One will go up for grabs for a limited period of time where you can book as many units needed. If there’s inventory with the company, you can expect to see your device ship immediately. And if not, an approximation will be provided during which you can decide whether you want to cancel the order and get your money back.

While many reports suggest that the invite system will be axed, the company notes it’ll remain active. And if you land an invite, you’ll be able to skip the line and get your device shipped immediately. Purchase details such as shipping address and accessories can be filled up days before pre-orders commence, so on the main day you’ll only need to press a single button to finalize your order.
