OnePlus One will cost you less than Rs 25000 in India, dreaded invite system will stay

There’s good news and bad news; the OnePlus One will be hitting India with an attractive price tag of less than Rs 25000 and that too for its 64GB model, but it will only be made available through the company’s much hated invite system. This is being done with an aim of ensuring that the supply doesn’t fall short of expectations.

This flagship-killer smartphone which runs the Android-based CyanogenMod OS doesn’t have a release date planned for India as yet, but the head of OnePlus, Carl Pei has made it clear to The Indian Express that its price will not breach the Rs 25000 mark. Ever since the global release of the handset, it has been selling through an invite system.

This process involves trying to win such invites by participating in contests or asking someone who already owns the One phone. It’s only when you have such an invite with you that you’re allowed to purchase it online. However, the company recently took a departure from this process, and made the smartphone available for pre-order for a limited time.

This method will unfortunately not be making its way into India at the start, but it won’t be foolish to expect it to be adopted by the company in the future. We’re expecting the One to be made available in the country before or during the holiday season.

Here’s a neat look at the specs of the OnePlus One:
