OnePlus One phone can now boot Ubuntu OS if you wish to try it


Remember the OnePlus One smartphone from 2014? If you do, you’ll also know that it’s still a darling device of developers and tinkerers worldwide. Now, its makers have decided to please them furthermore by making available a version of the Ubuntu OS for them.

The Chinese company has been toying around with competition a lot lately. It famously made a case for the iPhone a few months ago, while it even ended up paying $300000 in order to get its phones featured in House of Cards. And now, despite having its own stable Android ROM named Oxygen OS, it has gone on to release a Ubuntu OS ROM.

The OnePlus One moreover, is not the only device from the company that’s getting this software. It has been announced that a version for the OnePlus X is being worked on as well right now. The development team has apparently encountered a number of difficulties in doing this, and has hence called upon other developers to help out.
