We’ve told you multiple times that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be hitting the OnePlus One in the next few weeks, but the company now has a concrete release date to share. It notes that the Cyanogen OS 12 update and its own Oxygen OS ROM will be release by the end of this month for sure.
A post on the official forums states that the OTA update for the CM 12S platform will commence on or before March 30, while the Lollipop based Oxygen OS will be available for download on March 27 or even earlier. OnePlus seems pretty confident about delivering its new promise as it notes that if it happens to miss any of these date, it’ll give out 5 64GB models to forum users for free.
And all you have to do to be eligible for this is to reply to the announcement thread. The company has revealed that it ran into several issues which has delayed the release of Lollipop for the smartphone. It notes that the camera module had stability problems and various drivers needed to be updated to deliver an optimal user experience.
These issues probably plagued both, the CM12S platform and the Oxygen OS considering that they’ve been delayed. Cyanogen also disclosed previously that it will bring Android 5.1 Lollipop to the OnePlus One and the new enhancements will be rolled out through an update in the near future.
