We recently heard rumors about the OnePlus 6T and now there’s a new report by CNET which backs the rumors up. It seems the Chinese brand is working on a sequel to the OnePlus 6 and plans to release it in October.

People familiar with the launch plans say that T-Mobile will be the exclusive carrier partner for the OnePlus 6T. This includes a specific model which will be optimized for the telecom company’s network.

OnePlus is going to pair this with a standard global version of the OnePlus 6T which will be unlocked and compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile. It seems the smartphone might be priced at $550 (roughly Rs 38387). This isn’t too far off from the OnePlus 6’s $529/Rs 34999 starting cost.

The report is light on spec details, so we don’t even know how much storage or RAM the OnePlus 6T will pack. It’s unclear what other changes the brand is planning with the upgrade. It had previously said that it would only release a T variant if some new technology or trend came along.

OnePlus had actually talked about carrier support in an interview earlier this year. The company’s CEO Pete Lau told CNET that it was working with US carriers for a partnership. It looks like this effort has borne some fruit for the firm since it got T-Mobile on board.

Verizon and Sprint were never in the running since OnePlus handsets use incompatible wireless standards. Meanwhile, the T-Mobile OnePlus 6T is supposedly going to work on the new 600Mhz spectrum band which ensures better coverage and faster speeds.

One source claims that OnePlus still hasn’t gotten technical approval at T-Mobile, so it’s not a done deal yet. If it fails the test, the OnePlus 6T may get delayed. We’ll let you know how things progress over the coming months.
