The OnePlus 5T has been hogging headlines for weeks, but in a welcome respite, there’s some good news incoming for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners. The company has officially released OxygenOS 5.0, its first Android 8.0 Oreo update for the pair.
It’s a fairly quick turnaround for OnePlus since it began seeding the Open Beta version of Oreo for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T last month. It should be noted that is the last major OS update the two are getting and the Open Beta Program will eventually shift completely to the OnePlus 5 series. The older generation is still set to get regular security patches though.
OxygenOS 5.0 includes Oreo-specific changes like auto-fill, smart text selection, and picture-in-picture mode. There’s also a new Quick Settings design, a revamped app folder look, and the addition of notification dots. On the security front, the patch has been upgraded to September. It’s already November now, so it seems a bit late for that.

Finally, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users can now upload their images directly to Shot on OnePlus. Like before, the OTA rollout will be incremental. It’ll reach a small number of people first before hitting everyone within a few days.
As for the rest of OnePlus’ lineup, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are set to get its Oreo fix in the form of an Open Beta kicking off later this month. The official version is set to begin seeding in early 2018.
