OnePlus 3, 3T start getting OxygenOS 4.1.7 update

OnePlus 3 Back

Owners of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T have begun receiving the update to OxygenOS 4.1.7, bringing with it a couple of system improvements and a number of bug fixes. It’s an incremental rollout like always, hitting a small group of people at first before beaming out to everyone within a few days.

In terms of improvements, OxygenOS 4.1.7 is supposed to deliver enhanced system fluidity and battery optimizations. The Android security patch has been updated to August, good news for security hounds eager to have their OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T safe from threats.

As for bug fixes, OnePlus has resolved an app locker issue which originated from some third-party applications. The problem was highlighted a few days ago, allowing anyone to bypass the native App Locker tool’s password or fingerprint ID requirements with the help of launcher apps like Nova Launcher.

OxygenOS 4.1.7 also repairs a sound channel error which could occur while shooting videos and a rendering problem in the Kannada language. It further takes care of a problem where third-party apps would route a call to the speaker.

Unusually, Google has requested OnePlus to remove the Hangouts app from the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T if it’s never been updated via the Play Store. Neither has mentioned why the former wants to eliminate the app. Owners who’d like to keep the chat application will have to update it before kickstarting the OxygenOS upgrade process.

You can download the latest version of Hangouts via the Play Store.
