Rumors about Apple’s plans for a trio of iPhone 8 models has just gotten a big boost courtesy a fresh research note issued by renowned KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He predicts the company will launch a 4.7-inch TFT-LCD model, a 5.5-inch TFT-LCD one, and a brand new OLED variant.
Of the three, Kuo thinks only the latter two will be blessed with dual cameras. He states that this increase will bode well for Apple’s twin snapper software ecosystem and Largan’s sales and profit since it’s currently the exclusive supplier for wide-angle and telephoto lens.
Kuo didn’t specify just how big the OLED iPhone would be. However, a previous note issued by him earlier this year had asserted that Apple was working on a 5.8-inch OLED smartphone with curved edges and a glass casing.

Other leaks have also confirmed this theory to a certain extent. Barclays research analysts recently claimed that Apple was going to launch a 5-inch LCD iPhone and 5.8-inch OLED one. Both will supposedly sport a curved and bezel-less look. Intriguingly, the report also stated that the two would maintain the same overall footprint as the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone lineup.
As far as new features go, speculation so far has suggested that the iPhone 8 could eliminate the physical home button entirely and place it beneath the glass. Barclays argues against this though, so it may not come to pass. Moreover, the introduction of the phone may finally mark the debut of truly wireless charging.
