Sony is going to reveal its new flagship the Xperia Z1, at an event today, but a recent leak may have spoiled the entire surprise or whatever was left of it. The official press release of the smartphone has made it to the internet, confirming the device’s features and specifications that have been leaked out numerous times already.
The details below have been disclosed online by Xperia Blog which managed to get hold of the official presser. Let’s start off with the form factor – The Xperia Z1 will measure 144mm x 74mm x 8.5mm in dimensions and weigh 170 grams. The device will arrive in black, purple and white shades, and it will be water- as well as dust-resistant meeting IP55/IP58 standards which are higher than that of the current flagship. The company is still implementing its OmniBalance design language, but has crafted the phone with a one-piece aluminum frame. On the hardware front, there’s nothing that we don’t know about already. So we’re quickly going to list out the components.
The phone sports a 5-inch 1080p Triluminos display with X-Reality, a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, Adreno 330 graphics, 16GB flash memory with up to 64GB expandability, 2GB of RAM and a 3000mAh battery. The company has also made bold claims about its rear-facing 20.7MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor which is backed by Bionz for mobile image processing engine, stating that it’s the ‘world’s leading camera in a smartphone.’ The presser notes that the device will available globally this month and it will be compatible with the QX10 and QX100 lens-style external cameras (check the video below for more details), as well as other accessories.
So that’s one device down and we look forward to another launch which takes place today, the Galaxy Note 3. Stay tuned for more details on the Xperia Z1 Honami and its accessories as well as other IFA announcements.
