Nokia X buyers to get 3 months of free 3G data on Airtel

The Nokia X, the Finnish mobile giant’s first ever Android-based phone has been selling in India since around a month now, but it seems its sales aren’t quite meeting the company’s expectations. That’s what has apparently forced it to sign a partnership with Airtel under which every new purchase of the smartphone will be bundled with free 3G data for up to 3 months.

Any Airtel customer buying the Nokia X will have access to 500MB worth of data per month, provided that the first SIM card they enter in the phone is that of the said network provider. In circles without access to 3G speeds, the same amount of 2G data will be offered. And once the 500MB limit is crossed, 3p/10KB (3G) or 10p/10KB (2G) charges will apply.

Nokia X

Unveiled back in February, the Nokia X runs a heavily modified version of Google’s Android OS but is able to run most of the apps that are developed for the platform. It grabs a 4-inch WVGA display and runs on a dual core processor. A 3MP camera also finds its way into its offerings.

The new deal on the Nokia X for Airtel customers in India is supposed to last only till June 30.
