Nokia Lumia 920 price slashed in India, now available for Rs 31,999

Nokia Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 price has been cut to Rs 31,999 in India, this is due to Nokia’s plans to introduce its latest flagship, the Lumia 925 in the country. Well, there’s no word on when the newest iteration will go on sale, but that day shouldn’t be far off considering the latest move by the manufacturer.

The 920 was initially announced for a price of Rs 38,199. After the reduction, the device is now on sale in India through the company’s online store for Rs 32,639. Retailers such as Flipkart, Infibeam and Saholic are offering the handset for Rs 1,000 less at Rs 31,999. Each outlet is even throwing in a free DT-900 wireless charger with every purchase. As per what we see, it appears as if the manufacturer wants to finish off as much stock as possible before the latest smartphone hits shelves.

The device is quite a performer in the Windows Phone ecosystem. Not only is it snappy to use, but also delivers some brilliant low-light imagery. The Lumia 925 is said to bring in the same PureView experience, but with more enhancements which include better low-light photography, optical image stabilization and more. Compared to the former, this handset is dressed in an aluminum shell making it lightweight and even slimmer than its predecessor.

The 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display on the front proffers the same WXGA 1280 x 768p resolution and super-sensitive touch as well as ClearBlack technologies, albeit it’s an AMOLED panel instead of an LCD. Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is layered on top for better resistance against scratches. The rear sports an 8.7MP PureView camera featuring Carl Zeiss optics and six physical lenses. On the inside, there’s a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, only 16GB of storage with no expansion and a 2000mAh battery.

A sub-Rs 9,000 drop in the official retail pricing in India makes the Nokia 920 a more attractive choice. Where the Lumia 925 is concerned, there’s no release date in sight. But we expect the device to go on sale for around the same amount its predecessor did when it was launched back in early January. In Europe, the handset will be available for around €469.
