The Nokia Lumia 720 and 520 have peeked out along with two other unidentified devices, and all come with model names similar to the ones previously seen with the series. This piece of gossip originated from a tweet by Alan Mendelevich who runs an ad network for Windows Phone apps called Adduplex.
The Lumia 720 and 520 have been previously rumored and found themselves buried within an article about a week ago which speculated on the final name of the Nokia EOS. That phone, it was said, would come with real PureView technology and move into the company’s high-end range of handsets.
It is expected the EOS or the 1000, as it is thought it will be called, will have a 41MP sensor just like the 808 PureView. When it was leaked last month, talk was that it would have squared edges and an aluminum body, moving away from polycarbonate structures currently seen in the series.
But let’s get back to the matter at hand. The earlier referenced tweet includes the RM-914, which is supposed to be the 520 and the RM-885, corresponding to the 720. These are expected to be a low-end and a mid-range handset respectively. The tweet also points to 2 other devices – the RM-887 and the RM-860 – on Verizon’s logs.
WMPoweruser is reporting that according to previous leaks, the 520 is to have a very sensitive 4-inch screen, a dual core 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM in addition to a 5MP camera on the rear. The front is not expected to have a webcam, while there should be 8GB of internal memory, microSD card support and Windows Phone 8 for a platform.
The 720 on the other hand should get a slightly bumped up 4.3-inch screen with the same amount of RAM, internal storage and expansion options as the above handset, in addition to a 6MP primary snapper on the back and a 2MP front-facing webcam. It should also take advantage of WP8 and feature HSPA+.
Lastly, the two unknown phones that have apparently showed up on the carrier’s log may be exclusive versions of higher-end devices that have been codenamed Laser and Catwalk in previous rumors. The latter, it is thought, will be a slim metallic device which gets flagship branding.
This leak all but closes the case on the Nokia Lumia 720 and the 520. And with the MWC just around the corner, we hope to hear more in a few days.
