Nokia Lumia 2520 gets a launch date and price for Verizon: Report

On October 22, the world will witness Nokia reveal a fresh set of devices which is hopefully not for the last time. The new additions are speculated to include 2 phablets, a Windows tablet, new accessories and possibly a laptop. And while we’ve got absolutely no information on a Lumia-branded notebook, launch details for the Lumia 2520 Windows RT slate have surfaced.

In a previous report, WPCentral noted that the Lumia 1520 phablet was headed to AT&T in the US early November and earlier this month, a second leak suggested that Verizon’s variant of the phone, dubbed Lumia 929, will arrive with a $500 off-contract. The website has come back with another revelation stating that a trusted source has confirmed the launch details for the Lumia 2520.

Going by the codename Sirius, the tablet will hit Verizon for $499 as well. You can expect the Windows RT slate to come with 4G LTE connectivity when it goes on sale sometime around November 17. Where specifications are concerned, we know that the tablet will have a 10-1-inch touchscreen proffering resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. A quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8974 SOC will power it up.

We’ve seen the device leak a few times before, but @evleaks has got its hands on new press images (embedded above and below) which show the slate in cyan blue and red. Previous rumors have noted that the device will weigh around 1.3 pounds and measure 0.35 inches thick. It should also sport a 6.7MP Carl Zeiss camera on the rear and 10 hours of battery life.

The $499 price tag for the Nokia Lumia 2520 on Verizon should be off-contract. If so, the device could give the Surface 2 which is retailing for the same amount a run for its money.
