The Nokia Lumia 1000 will allegedly be the official name of the previously rumored EOS device. Besides this piece of news, two other handsets in the same series have been spotted and are rumored to arrive soon. Towards the end of January, reports emerged stating that the codenamed handset would come with true PureView technology and an equally monumental lens.
The Lumia 1000, as it is expected to be called, has been spotted on a registration page on China Mobile by German website Mobilegeeks. In fact, the assumption that it is indeed the EOS has been made due to the high model number that the listing carries, leading to the belief that it could be the company’s next flagship smartphone.
What’s known of the EOS is this: it should have a 41MP camera sensor just like the company’s own 808, but it is to feature real PureView technology. What that might mean exactly is not completely clear at the moment, and details in general are very sketchy. But the talk is that we might see it (in whatever form) at this month’s mobile phone event in Barcelona.
As Unwired View is reporting, according to LiveSide.net, two new Lumia devices – the 520 and 720 – have shown up on Postel, which is an Indonesian certification body. In the past, this database for handset certification has proved right in outing phones from the Finnish manufacturer before they have been official announced. And since the 610 was also seen first on this database, the website suspects that this information is as close to the truth as it can get.
As we approach this month’s event in Spain, many other leaks have also come our way. This is especially true of the HTC M7, which has been at the center of so much talk recently. Other rumored devices comprise of practically the whole Galaxy range from Samsung including the new GS4, and a rather outrageous Foneblet with a controversial 5.8-inch screen, plus a larger version of the LG Optimus G Pro.
Whether or not we are really to see a new smartphone called the Nokia Lumia 1000 is uncertain for now. We could possibly hear more at the MWC scheduled to take place in about 2 weeks’ time, but until then this one should be confidently labeled a rumor.
