Nokia Lumia Amber update for Windows Phone 8 goes live

The Lumia Amber update has been rolled out for the Nokia Windows Phone 8 gadgets and it is said to be loaded with a horde of features such as camera enhancements, Glance Screen and many others. The Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 have started receiving the OTA update in select countries and owners of devices like the Lumia 521, 810 and 928 in the US can also install it on their phones. All the other handsets including the Lumia 520, 620 and 720 across the world should get the update notification before the end of September.

Apart from Nokia Amber, WP8 smartphones can also look forward to Microsoft’s GDR2 update which is slated to bring FM radio, an all new Internet Explorer browser, new attributes for Xbox Music and some other minor improvements to the table. From the Nokia software, users can expect enhanced image processing as functions like improved noise reduction, color reproduction, exposure control and auto focus are coming to all Lumia devices. Moreover, the 920 model will now have ISO setting adjustment options from 800 to 3200 to ensure an even better low light performance.

It boasts of modes like Best Shot, Action Shot, Change Faces, Motion Focus and more. Except the Lumia 520 and 625, all the other WP8 gadgets from the Finnish company can activate Glance screen which displays a clock along with battery and silent mode indicators, when the phone is inactive. And if that’s not enough, you can now flip it over to switch the silent mode on and double tap the screen to unlock it. Faster map updates will also be available for the phones.
