HMD Global is all set to start off 2018 with a bang, reportedly launching 3 new phones in January itself. The trio of handsets may include the Nokia 9, Nokia 8 (2018), and Nokia 6 (2018).

The Nokia 9 and Nokia 6 (2018) recently made it though China’s 3C certification under the model numbers TA-1042 and TA-1054, respectively. The listing doesn’t reveal anything major about the smartphones, other than the fact that the two exist and are ready to be shown off to the public soon.

As for the specific date, reports so far have pushed forward a January 19 date. HMD Global launched the original Nokia 6 on the same day in 2017, so it does have a special significance. The pair may be joined by the Nokia 8 (2018) on stage.

The Nokia 6 (2018) recently got its day in the sun thanks to a TENAA listing. An update to the page later on revealed front and back images of the smartphone (see above). Its design has gotten a big upgrade, changing from thick bezels to much narrower ones along the sides, top, and bottom.

The home button’s gotten jettisoned as a result, leading to the fingerprint scanner being relocated to the back. The sensor’s below the single camera module which has been outlined in orange for some extra flair.

All the upcoming Nokia devices are expected to run on Oreo straight out of the gate and offer Project Treble support. HMD Global’s currently busy rolling out the Android 8.0 beta for the Nokia 5 and has plans to issue the same for the Nokia 6 (2017) soon.
