HMD Global is set to launch the Nokia 8.1 in India soon, as per a new report. The handset was launched as the Nokia X7 in China back in October and was originally expected to be called the Nokia 7.1 Plus internationally.
It seems HMD Global decided to switch tracks and rename the Nokia X7 so that it comes across as a sequel to the Nokia 8. The handset was launched as a flagship device last year, but its successor doesn’t have the same high-end specs. It’s possible the company is trying to reposition the upcoming Nokia 9 as its flagship series instead of the 8 lineup.
Nokia 8.1 Price and Availability
For now, sources in retail channels have told 91mobiles that HMD Global is going to unveil the Nokia 8.1 on November 28. The handset might be priced at Rs 23999 in the country. It starts at CNY 1699 (roughly Rs 17735) for its 4GB/64GB model, CNY 1899 (around Rs 19823) for its 6GB/64GB variant, and CNY 2499 (approx Rs 26086) for its 6GB/128GB option in China.
