The Nokia 7 Plus was supposed to be one of the first phones to get updated to Android 9.0 Pie. Things seemed like they were moving along smoothly for this update, but HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas recently shared some bad news.
It seems the Nokia 7 Plus’ Android 9.0 update is going to be delayed. As per Sarvikas’ tweet, the Pie update for the handset has had to deal with a couple of tricky platform-specific certifications bugs. Squashing these issues has slowed things down to a certain extent.

Thankfully, Sarvikas claims everything is fine now and apologizes for the delay. Nokia is apparently running the final round of tests for quality assurance at the moment. Unfortunately, his post doesn’t mention when exactly Android Pie is going to move out of the brand’s Beta Labs and become official.
To recall, the Nokia 7 Plus was part of Google’s small Android 9.0 beta program. Even the OnePlus 6 was part of this group. The latter got its Pie update just a few days ago. Users expected the Nokia device to beat it to the punch since it’s an Android One offering which runs on a pure version of the Android OS.

Still, the fact that HMD Global is keeping its customers informed about the problems it’s been facing and apologizing for them is a positive sign. Most Android manufacturers don’t bother keeping their consumers in the loop or even updating their OS versions at all.
At the end of the day, it’s better to have an error-free version of an OS upgrade rather than one which is riddled with bugs and has to be withdrawn. We’ll let you know when the Nokia 7 Plus finally gets a taste of Android 9.0 Pie.
