Nokia 6.1 Plus set to hit India soon

Nokia 6.1 Plus

The Nokia 6.1 Plus began hitting countries outside China last month and it looks like the phone is ready to arrive in India. HMD Global has begun teasing a launch event on its Indian Twitter page.

Unfortunately, HMD Global didn’t mention which phone it’s planning to launch and when. The post actually talks about a contest for Nokia fans. The company wants folks to share their favorite Nokia smartphone experience. The 50 best entries will get to attend its next exclusive launch event.

Nokia 6.1 Plus India Launch

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is the most likely candidate for a big unveiling in India. The device has already shown up on the brand’s website within its support page. Previous rumors had alleged an August-September timeline for its entry into India.

To recall, the Nokia 6.1 Plus was actually launched as the Nokia X6 in China back in May. It later traveled to Hong Kong in July as the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The phones are pretty much the same, except the globe-trotting version has Android 8.1 Oreo with Android One inside.

To be clear, most Nokia phones launched in 2018 are part of Android One. It’s only in China that HMD Global has implemented its own software. Being a member of Google’s program means that the handsets get at least 2 years of OS updates and monthly security updates, plus unlimited high-quality Google Photos backup.

Specifications of the Nokia 6.1 Plus:

– OS: Android 8.1 Oreo with Android One
