Nokia 515 is everything your feature phone isn’t

If there exists a premium segment among feature phones, the Nokia 515 is a new and promising entrant to it. This $149/€115 phone justifies its price by showing off quality design features that include an aluminum body, Gorilla Glass protection and more. It has been equipped with Nokia’s Series 40 software, and is slated to go on sale in Russia, Germany, Switzerland and Poland in single and dual SIM variants. A quick look at the company’s Indian website told us that the latter model will indeed be coming to the country, but its price still remains untold.

Like we said, the Nokia 515 has its main body constructed from anodized, sandblasted aluminum, and it stands at 11mm thin. Gorilla Glass 2 coating covers its gently curved 2.4-inch QVGA display which has been polarized for better use in sunlight. Moreover, specially created hardened polycarbonate resin has been utilized to build the 515’s keymat. Its lone camera is a 5MP one which has been placed on its rear surface alongside an LED flash. This snapper kicks in features like panorama, sequential shots and self-portrait assistance.

Sized at 114mm x 48mm x 11mm, the Nokia 515 has its weight set at 101.1 grams. Its internal memory has been tied down to 256MB, whereas further expansions are made possible by a microSD card slot which supports 32GB worth of added storage. Bluetooth 3.0, a microUSB port and a 3.5mm jack make up for its connectivity options, and as far as its battery life is concerned, this device is able to last for up to 38 days on standby.

The price for the Nokia 515 in India hasn’t been revealed as yet, but you can expect it to be anywhere around the Rs 10,000 mark. That’s an extremely high cost as compared to the company’s other feature phones like the newly unveiled 106 and 107, and even the Asha 501 and the Asha 210.
