The Nokia 5 got announced in India all the way back in June and went up for pre-orders in July, but is yet to actually become available in the country. HMD Global has now broken its silence on the topic, telling multiple publications that the handset will hit offline stores in more than 10 cities on August 15.
To start off with, the Nokia 5 will only be available in its Matte Black iteration. The Silver, Copper, and Tempered Blue variants won’t arrive on shelves immediately, instead coming in gradually over the next couple of weeks.
Cities which will have the Nokia 5 in stock starting from August 15 include Pune, Calicut, Indore, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Jaipur. Availability will spread to more locations eventually.
HMD Global’s priced the device at Rs 12499 and bundled it with a couple of schemes to get sales going. There’s a Vodafone offer which sees users getting 4GB of free data per month for 3 months. Owners will also receive a Rs 1800 voucher for hotels and Rs 700 discount on domestic flights booked via MakeMyTrip.

Following the Nokia 5’s arrival is the Nokia 6’s entry into the Indian market sector. The handset is being sold via Amazon India and will go up for sale on August 23. Registrations are still open and have apparently crossed the 1 million milestone.
