Nokia’s cheapest handset finally has a release date and price tag in India a few weeks after it was first announced in the nation. It’s already gone up for pre-orders in the US and Russia in the time since.
The Nokia 2 will officially hit shelves across India on 24 November. It’ll set buyers back by Rs 6999 and will only be available via physical retailers. This makes sense given the fact that it targets the entry-level market sector, particularly first-time smartphone buyers.
Nokia will have to face-off against popular brands like Samsung and Xiaomi in India if it wants to achieve its goals. The Chinese brand’s Redmi 4 and Redmi Y1 Lite both cost Rs 6999, with the former even sporting the same 4100mAh battery as the Nokia 2.

HMD Global is trying to entice buyers by bundling its basic phone with up to 45GB of extra data from Reliance Jio. They’ll have to commit to 9 recharges of Rs 309 or above up until 31 August 2018 to get the additional data in 5GB parcels.
Individuals can further get their hands on a 12-month accidental damage insurance plan for the Nokia 2 courtesy Servify. In this case, they have to open a Kotak 811 savings account and activate it with a deposit of at least Rs 1000.
Specifications of the Nokia 2:
