Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P won’t have microSD, OIS and wireless charging, prices outed

There’s bad news in store for you if you happen to be one of those who are eagerly awaiting the launch of the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P later today. That’s because both these devices have been confirmed to have given a miss to some really basic features.

The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P won’t come with microSD card slots inside them. Now Google’s devices usually don’t feature these anyway, but with the new external storage management features introduced by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, one would have hoped that first-party phones would be able to demonstrate them. The lack of microSD support is especially disappointing for expectant buyers of the 16GB 5X model.

Every high-end smartphone these days is offering support for optical image stabilization in order to compensate for the shakes and wobbles that can occur while you’re clicking images or capturing videos. In fact, even the Nexus 5 (2013) and Nexus 6 (2014) had this feature. However, it won’t be forming part of both the new models.

Wireless Charging is another standard trait in today’s high-end devices, but it is one more thing which the 5X and 6P will be abandoning. This decision has apparently been taken keeping in mind that their USB Type-C ports will offer faster charging than usual using wired connectors.

A neat look at the leaked specs of the Nexus 6P:
