Nexus 5 receives Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update finally, factory image goes live

The Google Nexus 5 has been the center of all attention in the past few days owing to its maker’s apparent plans of phasing it out in 2015 (the rumor’s been nixed now), but there’s good news regarding the handset as well. The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop build which comes equipped with some bug fixes has been made available for it in the form of a factory image.

If you’re the OTA type, you’ll need to wait for a few more days for the download to reach your Nexus 5 handsets, but if you can’t wait until then, just go ahead and flash the factory image. As Android Police has pointed out, updated binaries for the device have also been made available to offer proprietary drivers for all the hardware.

Despite the fact that its successor is out in the market right now, the Nexus 5 still remains relevant to a lot of people who prefer their smartphones to bear medium-sized displays. And it’s certainly not a bad smartphone overall as well. It ships with a 5-inch 1080p full HD display and offers Snapdragon 800 processing. Apart from an 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front snapper, its other highlights include a 2300mAh battery, wireless charging support and more.

Here’s a quick glance at the specs of the Nexus 5:
