There has been a lot of speculation on the upcoming Sony flagship which will reportedly be called the Xperia Z4 and the information we’re getting is pretty contradictory as it comes from multiple sources. There’s no way of telling what details are right as the suggested hardware is pretty much what you’d expect from an upcoming high-end device, so we’re just going to lay it all out for you.
PhoneArena has managed to get its hands on images allegedly taken at the company’s lab which shows the Sony Xperia Z4 front and center. The handset’s design is pretty much what you’d expect from the OEM’s OmniBalance approach and as familiar as it looks, it’s like no other.
As you can see in the image above, the earpiece and bottom speaker are more towards the top edge. The Xperia Z3 has these components much closer to the screen, while they’re almost hidden on the Z3v model. Also, the phone is shown running Android Lollipop, version 5.1, which hasn’t been released as yet.
Where hardware is concerned, the handset is said to have a 5.2-inch 1080p FHD IPS display and it’ll be powered by a 2.7GHz quad core Snapdragon 805 SOC. It will also have 3GB RAM and the new 21 MP Exmor IMX230 camera.
Previous reports, on the other hand, have suggested that the phone will have a 5.4- or 5.5-inch QHD panel, 4GB of RAM and be powered by an octa core Snapdragon 810 processor. Now, both versions are pretty much believable, but the newly leaked info looks to be more appropriate mainly because the handset is scheduled to go official in less than a month from now and it doesn’t look like the S810 chipset is ready for the market as yet.
Apart from the Sony Xperia Z4 flagship, the company is also reportedly working on a Z4 Compact, Z4 Tablet and Z4 Ultra for launch in 2015. Leaked features and specifications for the other devices can be found at this link.
