The new Facebook for WordPress plug-in has been introduced with intentions of delivering better integration of features from the social network. The add-on is said to be designed by engineers from the SNS in collaboration with open source partners from the popular blogging platform.
With the plug-in, users will be able to conveniently publish content on WordPress and at the same time, cross-post material to their Timeline and Pages. To enhance distribution, the names of Pages and even friends can be mentioned in posts. The process to get the add-on up and running is simple – once the plug-in has been activated, all users have to do is set up the Facebook app.
“Starting today WordPress publishers can easily integrate Facebook features, such as social publishing and mentions, through the new Facebook for WordPress plug-in. The plugin was built by Facebook engineers in collaboration with open source partners, and makes it simple for anyone to make their WordPress site more social – no coding required. The plug-in will also work on mobile and support internationalization,” notes Matt Kelly, engineer at Facebook via the Facebook Developers blog.
Widgets included with the add-on comprise of Activity Feed, which displays friends’ activities such as ‘likes’ and comments, Recommendations that provide personalized suggestions to readers and a Comments Box feature for viewers to comment on the publishing website and Facebook. This release is also compatible with mobile. It supports internationalization and is WordPress.com VIP approved.
The Facebook for WordPress plug-in is free to use via the plug-in directory on the WordPress.org website. The add-on can even be manually uploaded to servers.
