It looks like rumors have hit bull’s-eye as Apple has indeed launched a new 15-inch MackBook Pro with Retina display. This refreshed laptop comes equipped with the latest quad core processors from Intel and discrete graphics from Nvidia fitted within a thin and lightweight form factor.
Employed within the notebook are options of Core i7 processors clocked at a maximum of 2.7GHz. Complementing the CPU are 16GB of 1600 MHz RAM, 768GB in flash storage and a GeForce GT 650M GPU from Nvidia. Other components include a FaceTime HD camera, a glass Multi-Touch trackpad, a full-size backlit keyboard, a MagSafe 2 power port and much more.
“The MacBook Pro with Retina display pushes the limits of performance and portability like no other notebook,” commented Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “With a gorgeous Retina display, all flash architecture and a radically thin and light design, the new MacBook Pro is the most advanced Mac we have ever built.”
With a weight of just about 4.46 pounds and 0.71 inches in thickness, the notebook is said to be almost the size of a MacBook Air. It incorporates 2 Thunderbolt ports and 2 USB 3.0 sockets for speedy data transfer and connectivity to multiple displays, while an HDMI output allows users to quickly hook it up to an HDTV. Where battery life is concerned, the laptop is capable of delivering 7 hours of activity whilst operating on wireless networks and up to 1,000 recharges through the Adaptive Charging technology.
The new 15-inch MacBook Pro price amounts to $2,199 for the 2.3GHz Core i7 version and $2,799.00 for the 2.6GHz variant of the same processor family. Potential users in India can pick up the new MacBook Pro for Rs. 1,52,900 and Rs. 1,92,900, respectively. The Retina display-equipped laptop is available through the Apple online store, retail outlets and authorized resellers. What’s more, the company is offering a free upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion on each purchase.
