Much-teased Panasonic P81 finally launched, now available for Rs 17,999

We’ve been hearing about the Panasonic P81 a lot since the past few days, but the device has finally shed its secrecy and appeared before us in all its glory now. Priced at Rs 17,999, it is an octa core smartphone which features an HD display and a 13MP camera.

Unfortunately though, it runs the outdated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. It does benefit from Panasonic’s very own Play Life UI however. This software coating kicks in features like the ability to open two windows at a time and the provision for launching certain apps based on gestures made on the touchscreen.

The biggest selling point of the Panasonic P81 is its 1.7GHz octa core processor which is provided assistance in its operations by a 1GB RAM module. Its display is 5.5 inches in size and its internal memory has been locked down at 8GB, with a provision for expansions of up to 32GB.

A 13MP rear camera and a 2MP webcam also form part of its offerings. The P81 furthermore grabs hold of a 2500mAh battery and the usual array of sensors for gravity, light and proximity.
