MSI GS70 price is a mammoth, packs Haswell, Kepler into 0.85″ profile

Here to claim the title of the world’s thinnest in the 17-inch segment is the MSI GS70 which has been formally unveiled along with a hefty price. This latest gaming rig from MSI has launched a couple of months after the company announced the GE40, GE70 and GE60 notebooks along with the flagship GT70 Dragon Edition 2, the GT60 3K Edition which boast of a WQHD+ display and the GS70 Stealth.

For the price being asked for the MSI GS70, the notebook offers a great deal of powerful hardware into a slim and lightweight form factor. Being 0.85 inches thick, the laptop beats the 17-inch Blade Pro from Razer by mere millimeters. The overall weight of the system is 5.73 pounds which also makes it lighter than the latter. Like all new generation notebooks, this one runs on Windows 8 with an optional upgrade to the Pro version. To provide a bang for every buck, the MSI GS70 is designed with a Core i7-4700HQ processor clocked at 2.4GHz, a GeForce GTX 765M GPU and 16GB of DDR3L RAM.

The laptop not only has the necessary power to run almost all demanding games, but also the components for a rich experience. The company has dressed the system with a SteelSeries full-color backlit keyboard that sports Anti-Ghosting keys, Killer DoubleShot (Wi-FI, LAN and Bluetooth) connectivity and a 17.3-inch FHD Matrix display. The MSI GS70 can be connected to 3 external displays through HDMI and mDP ports and it supports up to 4k resolution.

The GS70 is currently listed in 2 models. The 128GB SSD + 750GB HDD 2OD-001US option is tagged at $1,799.99, while the 2OD-002US variant with Super RAID 2x 128GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive carries a price of $1,999.99.
