It’s finally time for Motorola to launch its new flagship smartphone in India; well sort of, as it’s the Moto X Play that we’re talking about and not its higher-end Style cousin. An invite for an event on September 14 that will apparently see the launch of only the former device has been sent out by the company.
Motorola had indeed been teasing the arrival of this handset via its social channels; so it’s no surprise seeing an invite pop-up today. The Moto X Play was launched alongside the Moto G (3rd Gen) and the Moto X Style (Pure Edition in the US) in July this year, and while the former was quick to enter India, the other two have avoided the market till now.
Even now, there seem to be little chances of the Style variant arriving in the country, as there’s no mention of it in the teasers. The main highlight of the Moto X Play happens to be its supposed 30 hours of battery life which is managed by a big 3630mAh power pack.
Motorola has even blessed it with a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD display. Another one of its highlights is its highly advanced 21MP main camera which is complemented by a 5MP selfie unit. This phone is run by a 1.7GHz octa core Snapdragon 615 processor.
A neat look at the specs of the Moto X Play:
– Display: 5.5-inch, 1080p full HD resolution
– OS: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
– Processor: 1.7GHz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615
– GPU: Adreno 405
– Memory: 2GB RAM, 16/32GB storage (expandable up to 128GB)
– Cameras: 21MP rear, 5MP front
– Battery: 3630mAh
– Dimensions: 148 x 75 x 10.9 mm
– Weight: 169gms
Like we said, the new Motorola Moto X Play will be unveiled on September 14, and it’s of course expected to be made available only through Flipkart.
