Motorola has announced the Moto E5 series right alongside the Moto G6 lineup, positioning the former as a step below the latter. The Oreo-running budget phones have a lot to offer, from selfie flash units up front to fingerprint sensors embedded within the Moto batwing logo.
Starting with the Moto E5 Plus, the handset is going to be sold at €169 (roughly Rs 13750) in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America over the next couple of months. The device has gotten hold of a trendy 18:9 aspect ratio and a massive 6-inch HD+ screen.
The big display is matched by an equally big 5000mAh battery, said to last for 1.5 days on a single charge. Motorola has thankfully equipped it with a 15W TurboPower charger so users won’t have to wait around for the unit to recharge. The company claims owners can get 6 hours of usage after 15 minutes of charging.

The Moto E5 Plus’ 12MP rear camera comes with Laser Autofocus and 1.25um pixels, designed to capture photos quickly even in low-light conditions. The back itself has a reflective wave pattern and an arched feel for a comfortable grip, while the front has rounded glass for smooth edges.

The Moto E5 features the same looks as its bigger brother, but fits it all within a smaller 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ panel. There’s also a lower-capacity 4000mAh battery which can be refueled through a 10W rapid charger. Other key differences include a Snapdragon 425 processor, a 13MP camera sans Laser Autofocus, and a 5MP front-facing lens.

Motorola is planning to sell the Moto E5 in Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America at €149 (about $183 or Rs 12120). As for the Moto E5 Play, it doesn’t have a price tag yet and is set to be available only in North America. The phone sports a standard 16:9 aspect ratio on a compact 5.2-inch HD screen.
