Moto X hits the UK through Phones 4u earlier than expected

The Moto X was scheduled to make its way into the UK on February 1. But Phones 4u has already started selling the phone in black and white. The latter color is going to be a Phones 4u exclusive for the next three months. We know what you’re thinking – what about Moto Maker, right?

Why no Moto Maker?

Moto Maker is Motorola’s online portal you can visit in order to customize your handset. We didn’t count, but there apparently are more than 2000 combinations you can choose for personalizing the phone. Well, it looks like you’ll have to do without it if you’re in a hurry.

Moto X

Those stateside can design their device, order it and have it shipped to them within 4 days since it’s assembled in the US only. Motorola CEO, Dennis Woodside, told Pocket-Lint that Europe will be getting its Moto X units from China. And customers may not be willing to wait out the inevitably long delivery period.

The company is said to be looking for a way to get around this though. The SIM-free Moto X is priced at £380 or €399. Via Phones 4u, it’s £22 and above (on free hardware) depending on your carrier. Carphone Warehouse, O2, Amazon and Techdata will be selling the smartphone in black soon.
