Moto G4 Geekbench listing reveals Snapdragon SoC, 3GB RAM

Moto G4 Plus Leak

The Moto G4 or Moto G4 Plus have gotten leaked online just days before its official launch event on May 17 in New Delhi. The handsets have already been the subject of numerous leaks in the past. The new one adds additional information to paint a more complete picture of what to expect this coming Tuesday.

This fresh source of knowledge comes directly from a Geekbench listing. The benchmarking site has evaluated what it names the ‘Motorola Moto G (4).’ While it’s not immediately clear whether the handset on the page is the Moto G4 or Moto G4 Plus, previous leaks have suggested that the former will pack 2GB of RAM and the latter 3GB.

This is especially relevant because the newly leaked device also sports 3GB of RAM. The memory capacity could either indicate it’s the Moto G4 Plus or that the earlier speculation concerning the Moto G4 was inaccurate. Whatever the case, the smartphone in question runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow right out of the gate.

The Motorola phone further depends on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to get things done. Again, it’s not clear exactly which one it’s destined to use. The MSM8952 chipset could indicate either the Snapdragon 615 or 617 SoC. There’s not much else to glean from the listing in terms of specs, other than the fact that the device scored 937 in its single-core test and 4451 in its multi-core one.

On the official side of things, Motorola has announced that the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus will be sold exclusively via Amazon India upon release. It’s been running an extensive promotional campaign around the handsets via its social media pages. Based on its teasers, the smartphones might offer laser autofocus and extended battery power.
